This conference programme aims to give senior industry professionals access to new ideas, solutions and innovations to help take their departments and companies forward. The agenda is pitched at a high level and we endeavour to present new case studies and new thinkers on the programme each year.

Keynote and seminar sessions give a high-level view of the  industry, offering predictions and insights to help delegates form their future strategies. The interactive workshops and discussion groups complement the larger sessions by drilling down into specific issues, allowing delegates to share their collective experiences and to learn how their peers are dealing with similar situations.

  • The macroeconomic situation in an extraordinary interest rate environment

Prof. Aymo Brunetti, Professor for economic policy and regional economics at University of Berne & president of the Swiss government’s advisory board on the future of the financial centre
10 years after the start of the financial crisis the macroeconomic situation has normalized in most countries. However, monetary policy still is more expansionary than ever before. This ocean of liquidity has contributed to rock bottom short term interest rates that enhance the decade-long fall in long term interest rates. The talk will explain the recent macroeconomic development and then discuss the background for the extraordinary interest rate environment. Based on this a tentative forecast will be presented on the likely macroeconomic and interest rate developments in the coming years.

  • Profiting from Digital Disruption

Mikko Ripatti, Senior Portfolio Manager at DNB Asset Management

The accelerating technological development is disrupting all industries from media and healthcare to auto and financial industries. Changes take place rapidly, which is an opportunity and a threat at the same time for companies and investors. The mega trends like artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud services and fintech are known by all, but the real secret is to be able to identify the winners and the losers of these trends.

Despite all the market volatility, we think the technology sector still offers interesting opportunities for investors because the sector enjoys above average growth in a near zero interest rate environment. Valuations have gone up, but there are still plenty of opportunities left for active bottom-up stock pickers like us, who don’t have to stick to a certain benchmark, who have a very strong focus on valuation and who have successfully used the same investment process for more than 15 years. The top ranked Luxembourg domiciled DNB Technology fund has returned more than 14 % annually after fees during the last ten years.
